Russellville School District offers a comprehensive gifted and talented program for students in grades K-12. Grades K-2: learn in weekly whole-group enrichment taught by a certified gifted specialist and the classroom teacher. Kindergarten lessons are literacy based. First and Second grade lessons encompass Arkansas History.

**During the spring of each year referrals are taken from teachers, parents, students, etc. for consideration for placement in the gifted program.

Grades 3-5: Students identified as gifted in grades 3-5 attend a pull-out program. One full day a week, these students attend the GT classroom to work on critical, analytical, and creative thinking skills.

Grades 6-12: When identified gifted students enter grades 6-12, a variety of pre-AP, AP, and concurrent college courses are offered. Student progress continues to be monitored as the identified students advance through the grades.

In addition, the gifted program also sponsors the elementary, middle school, junior high, and senior high school quiz bowl teams, Project Citizen, Competitive Edge, Model UN, Student Congress, and many other competitions.

Any questions about our gifted program may be directed to Laura Binz, GT/AP Coordinator.
