RJHS March Employee and Student of the Month 2020

The March Employee of the Month is Mrs. Holly Sutterfield! She is the EAST teacher here at RJHS! She was nominated by Misty Talley and Ronda Khamsourivong, here is what they had to say about Mrs. Sutterfield, "This teacher goes above and beyond for all of her students. The kids absolutely love her.  She is always thinking of ways to get the kids involved in things that benefit our school and community.  She makes staff and students feel loved and that they can come to her for anything.  That lady has it going on.  She balances her job as a teacher while her students have their own ongoing projects.  She remains in constant contact with the public and her kids are gaining real world experiences.  The garden project is an ongoing project that RJHS can use for years to come. She has her kids learning how to serve the community by doing projects for others."

The March Student of the Month is 9th grader Laura Escobar. She was nominated by Michelle Gregory, Ronda Khamsourivong, Tee Dunn and Tyler Garcia. They had amazing things to say about Laura. "She is one of my students, so we have watched her grow from an unsure-of-herself 8th grader to an incredible 9th grader. She has faced unfathomable obstacles, the most serious being the loss of her father in October. During the most difficult time of anyone's life, she was a solid foundation for her family. She helped care for her father when he returned home and was there with him when he passed. She is the youngest in her family. She lost her father right before her 15th birthday. In all of this, she barely missed school and has been diligently working in class and preparing for the 10th grade. I look up to her as she handled very adult situations better than most adults could have. She is also a beacon for her classmates - always there with a positive attitude. No one would know what she is going through because she is always upbeat."

"I see Laura every time she comes to the library and I get the biggest hug and look forward to seeing her.  She has faced some tough times this year and has pushed through them.  She is learning new things as she goes and I am so proud of her.  She is truly going to do amazing things when she leaves here."

"Laura is an amazing and strong young lady who faced a lot in her young life and is going even stronger than ever."

"She has gone through so much this year leading up to the loss of her father and she still showed up to work hard and improve for her future. She is a very special young lady that deserves recognition and just a small amount of the kindness she shows in return."

RJHS wants to say a big congratulations to Mrs. Sutterfield and Laura Escobar!!!
