loyee and Student of the Month!

Our employee of the month is Casey Standridge! She is a Special Education teacher and was nominated by Mrs. Hall. Here is what she had to say about Mrs. Standridge: "Casey Standridge is a phenomenal co-teacher who not only has a passion for her students but also a heart for teachers and special education. She believes every student, no matter his or her ability deserves an equitable education. At this moment she participates in several committees supporting multiple causes, attends college classes to further her education, and develops real relationships with those students whom she services. She calls their parents, fills out their paperwork, comes to every PLC meeting, studies content lessons to be as prepared as she can on the content so as to help them, and prepares her substitutes (and some students) when she has to be out, circulates the classroom, modifies and reads tests in small groups when needed, and offers useful advice during our planning from the perspective of her special education services expertise. The kids notice when she is gone and want to know how she is. She does her job so well that no one would ever know she is a parent to a toddler and wife to a husband and so on and so forth. She compartmentalizes so well.  This kind, confident, ethical woman deserves this award, so I hope you’ll help me show her just how much she is appreciated."

Our student of the month is 9th grader, Katie Howell, and she was nominated by Mrs. Wilkins!  Here is what she had to say about Katie: "Katie Howell is an exceptional young lady and has a heart of gold. She is always an active participant in the lessons and is the first to help others when they are struggling in class. Her work is always completed on time and you can tell that school is one of her top priorities.  Due to unforeseen circumstances, Katie has to complete her schoolwork remotely.  I have been so impressed with her work ethic and urgency to catch back up. She has reached out when she is ready to take her tests or has questions. I have not had to remind her about anything, she just gets on Google Classroom and completes her work. She truly is a great role model for others."

Congratulations to Katie and Mrs. Standridge! We are PROUD to call them Whirlwinds!
