Russellville Middle School

Mrs. Taylor's Gardening Club took a field trip today to Marlow's Happy Horseshoe Farm in Lamar, AR.  Students got to tour the greenhouse, which features an extensive aquaponics system, and learn how the Marlows are able to grow vegetables chemical-free by cycling water for 200+ Talapia into the large grow beds. The Marlows also grow numerous vegetables on their land and sell them at the online Russellville Community Market as well as the Clarksville Farmer's Market.  Students were able to experience many aspects of the farm including the greenhouse, fields, herb garden, and chicken coop. RMS students are very excited to put their new knowledge to good use in our school's greenhouse and aquaponics system!
