Kindness is our CKH Word of the Month! Our counselor, Mrs. James, does a wonderful job of focusing on our students social and emotional learning! She puts the I in KINDNESS every day!!

Fourth grade students have been reading and learning about “The Robot Revolution”. They read several articles that focused on the pros and cons of technology such as GPS, robots in the workplace, self driving cars, and drones. Members of the Russellville Police Department and Russellville Fire Dept. put on a presentation with two of their drones. They explained how drones help our community in the event of an emergency, such as finding a missing person or helping fight a fire. Special thanks to Mr. Jones and Officer Harris for putting this assembly together for our fourth graders!

Our OHE Robotics Team competed in the Russellville Winter Robotics Tournament this past weekend. They tweaked their bot after almost every match to make it perform more consistently. They worked and strategized with other teams to gain the most points! The team came back to implement some of the ideas they saw be successful at the tournament! Congrats to our team for their hard work!

Annie the Guinea pig has been a member of OHE for 9 years! She passed away on Thursday, January 30th of old age and natural causes. She brought joy to many students over the years in Mrs. Monk’s classroom, Mrs. McGahee's classroom, and the Science lab. Her adorable face and cute squealing will be missed. She spent her last days eating her favorite fresh fruits and vegetables and getting lots of attention. ❤️

On Jan 18, our All Star Robotics team attended a competition in Little Rock. They exhibited respect in each interaction with others and by waiting patiently for their turn, perseverance when things didn’t go as planned but not giving up, learning from mistakes to make the bot work better next time, and teamwork when they encouraged and celebrated each other!! We even had a member who wasn’t going to drive feel so encouraged that they ended up giving it a try and did so well!! It was such a fantastic meet!!
