6th-grade science students use multiple sources of weather data from multiple cities to determine the weather conditions when hailstorms occur.
Scientists use multiple sources of data to investigate phenomena in the real world just like our Gales!

On Monday, December 5, Officer John Harris of the Russellville Police Department who is assigned to RIS and RMS, graduated from the Criminal Justice Institute in Little Rock after completing the 40 hour School Resource Officer Basic school.
School Resource Officer’s serve unique roles in law enforcement as they also perform as teachers, mentors and counselors on the school campus. The SRO basic school is designed to provide newly appointed school resource officers with the knowledge and skills they need to effectively understand and perform these important roles.
Students enrolled in this course gained a working knowledge of the school resource officer triad concept and how to establish a lasting partnership with the schools. In addition to classroom instruction, students learned how to develop and present lesson plans as if they were instructing in a classroom setting.
Congratulations, Officer Harris!!

As a reward for doing a great job in PE, students were entered into a drawing to win festive holiday socks. Congrats to the Gale Holiday Sock Drawing winner! #GalePROUD

RMS hosted Quiz Bowl Family night for 3rd-12th grades. The younger players had the opportunity to watch the older teams compete, and some of the seniors moderated the games. Parents watched their kids participate in friendly scrimmages. We continue to grow State Champions at RSD! #galePROUD

We are so proud of the RMS Robotics team who participated in our first RMS Robotics Tournament in Fayetteville. For our first tournament we placed 8th, 9th, 10th, and 12th. Go Gales!

7th grade Science classes have been learning about temperature change with chemical reactions. We love learning by doing! #galePROUD #AcheivingExcellenceTogether

In conjunction with their “Animal Allies” unit, RMS 6th grade language arts students were treated to a special guest visitor this week. Jerry II, Arkansas Tech University’s campus ambassador, along with handler Heather Strasner, showed students how dogs and humans can make special connections. Heather explained Jerry II’s role on campus and described the many events and functions he attends to bring people together. Among other things, Jerry II serves as a positive student ally and embodies the “Fight On” spirit of Arkansas Tech!

The PTO Cookie Dough pickup has been changed from November 4th to November 14th from 3:45 PM - 6:00 PM in the Gale Room.

When the students are away, the RMS teachers will play!
In addition to meeting in our collaborative teams, talking about data, and learning how we can best help our students, we enjoyed some tasty Halloween treats, had a chili cook off, and had a costume contest! We missed the students, but we sure had fun!

Congrats to the November Student of the Month, Jacoby Putnam, and November Employee of the Month, Kylie Gallegos!
Mrs. Gallegos was nominated by several of her students. These are some of the things they said:

She has a very clean room, and also she lets us build puzzles once we finish our test, and also she is the best teacher in this school. Mrs. G is the best teacher in the world, and she is so nice and positive.”

We value our community collaborators.
Our career awareness classes are inviting local representatives to come and visit with our students on career opportunities in the River Valley. Last week representatives from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the U.S. Forest Service met with students to talk about their opportunities and what skills their occupations require.
