It's National Principals Month! We would like to recognize our former principal, Sheri Shirley. Mrs. Shirley recently announced her retirement from the Russellville School District after 35 years of service. She served 13 years as a classroom teacher at Crawford and 22 years as Principal at Oakland Heights. We are so thankful for her leadership and dedication to our school. She has impacted thousands of students and has made a remarkable footprint on Oakland Heights that will not be forgotten. Few educators become the principal of the elementary school they attended. But, Mrs. Shirley did. She began her educational journey as a student at Oakland Heights, graduated from Russellville High School, received a bachelor's degree from Arkansas Tech, a master's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Arkansas, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas Tech. In 2008, she was the recipient of the distinguished Milken Educator Award. Mrs. Shirley will be greatly missed at Oakland. But, we are excited that she gets to spend more time with her 3 children and 5 grandchildren. She has already been visiting Oakland in the role of Nonna and having lunch with her grandchildren. We wish Mrs. Shirley the most amazing retirement! Thank you, Sheri Shirley, for everything you have done for OHE. You are loved, admired, and appreciated!❤️

It's Boss's Day! We would like to thank our wonderful administrators for making OHE the place to be. We appreciate all Mrs. Ditto and Dr. Stewart do for our school!

It's National School Lunch Week. We would like to thank our wonderful culinary staff for preparing meals for our students every day! Thank you to Mrs. Donna, Ms. Julianne, Ms. Nikki, Ms. Melinda, and Mrs. Adriana!

Don't forget...The OHE Flu Clinic will be held in the afternoon on Friday, 10/25. Please return the FERPA and consent form (front and back) if you would like for your child to participate. We have extra forms in the office.

Congratulations to our School Resource Officer, John Harris, for receiving Arkansas Tech's 19 of the Last Nine Award! Yearly, ATU recognizes 19 outstanding alumni who have graduated in the last nine years. The recipients are leaders in their profession and community and serve as role models to current and future ATU students.

School will be dismissed for students Thursday 10/17 and Friday 10/18 for Fall Break.

Mrs. Hudson's class has loved learning about different types of weather and how to be a weather watcher in science! Students made wind buddies to take home to use outside, but of course they tested them inside to see how they worked. #EducateEquipEmpower
