Career & Technical Education Month | CTE Spotlight 🎓📚 ❤️🖤 Officers from the RJHS chapter of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently delivered port pillows sewn by 9th grade students to CARTI Cancer Center in Russellville and learned about careers in the medical field from CARTI nurses. 🏆 These port pillows were entered into the Pope County Fair and earned many premium ribbons and funds for the chapter before the donation. FCCLA officers include Madison Freyaldenhoven, Maddie Silva, Lillian Blythe, and Abby Silva. The RJHS chapter of FCCLA is sponsored by Mrs. Teri Mitchell. 🎉 Great job, RJHS FCCLA! #OneRSD ❤️🌪️🖤

🎓 ❤ JD Lowe | RSD Profile of the Graduate Story The Importance of Being a Responsible Citizen First grade student, JD Lowe, learned the power of responsibility very quickly. From the beginning of Kindergarten, JD has been an exemplary student showing responsibility, kindness, and integrity in his actions and work. Whether it's making sure a project is complete or helping classmates stay on task, JD strives to be an example of responsibility every day. London Elementary Principal, Mrs. Marcia Correia says JD is a student everyone can count on to do the right thing. “JD is always doing the responsible thing. He is a great help in his class and I can always count on him to make sure he leads his friends in being responsible inside and outside of the classroom.” ❤ JD, thank you for being a great example for your fellow peers! ➡️ Read more about JD's story here: https://www.rsdk12.net/article/1445364 ➡️To learn more about the RSD Profile of the Graduate visit this link: https://www.rsdk12.net/page/rsd-graduate #OneRSD ❤️🌪️🖤

With the removal of Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) days, the District must have make-up days to ensure the minimum number of instructional hours per year are met. In the 2023-2024 school year calendar, the District has enough hours built in to only need to make up 3 days. The RSD Board of Education approved the revised 2023-2024 calendar. The student instructional make-up days are as follows to ensure students are provided the quality instructional time needed ahead of state testing in late spring. Make Up Student Instructional Days: January 16, 2024 Inclement Weather Day | Made up through the built in hours from the current school calendar. January 17, 2024 Inclement Weather Day | Make up on February 19, 2024, which was formerly a teacher contract day. January 18, 2024 Inclement Weather Day | Make up on April 9, 2024, which was formerly a teacher contract day. January 22, 2024 Inclement Weather Day | Make up on May 31, 2024, making May 31st a student interaction day. The next steps are for RSD’s Classified and Certified Policy Committees to vote on the calendar. If there are any changes to be made, all stakeholders will be notified as soon as possible. The updated calendar can be found here: https://core-docs.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/120/District/3958527/RSD_2023-2024_Updated.pdf Find the full release here: https://www.rsdk12.net/article/1435622
